Mountaineering Artist

Arnold Shives' fondest childhood memories are from the times spent hiking on Mount Seymour and visiting the log cabin built by his father. He later became a serious mountaineer, summiting dozens of peaks and making a number of first ascents in B.C.’s Coast Mountains. Arnold’s love of wilderness, forest and peaks is powerfully expressed through his art, collected by prestigious galleries that include the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Tate Gallery in London.
