Getting the Picture

Mountaineers love the outdoors and many joined organizations such as the Vancouver Natural History Society. To record and share experiences, many climbers became accomplished photographers, lugging their large format cameras everywhere to get the right shot. Some used paints to tint their glass slides, as P.L. Tait did with this image of himself at work in 1935. Related topic: First Recorded Ascent of Mount Seymour
